Studies Say... “Melrose”
The following study was conducted by the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and Landcare.
Animal production from the PASTURE REJUVENATION PROJECT - “MELROSE”
The heifers weighed out of the paddocks on July 17, 1997 after 402 days grazing. The average live weight gain ranged from 149 to 177 kg/head (Table 1) with to gains of up to 202 kg/head.
The control group made at least weight gain of 149 kg/head. The other four pasture treatments (deep-ripped with WASCA Wings, chisel ploughed, crocodile, burn) produced similar live weight gains of 172 to 177 kg/head or an average daily gain (ADG) of 0.436 kg/head/day. However production per hectare was very different.
The lowest production of 21 kg/ha was from the burnt paddock, which was grazed for only 5½ months.
The highest production of 174 kg/ha came from the deep ripped paddock (WASCA Wings deep ripping), which was grazed at twice the stock rate of other treatments as well as accommodation heifers from the burnt paddock.
Footnote:
* Total period of grazing was 402 days from 11/6/97 to 17/7/97, the first weighing on 3/2/97 occurred after
7½ months.
B Heifers from the burn paddock (T4) grazed in the ripped paddock (T1) together with that group of heifers
from 11/6/97 to 3/2/97 and then T4 from 3/2/97 to 17/7/97.

Summary:
As seen from the above study, the ground ripped with WASCA Wings will produce more than three times as much beef as ground prepared by any other method. WASCA Wings ripped ground supports more plants per square metre as the surface area is increased by half. Cultivating with conventional equipment such as a chisel plough lasts from 3 to 5 years, where as, we have numerous testaments where people say that even 15 to 20 years after ripping with WASCA Wings, their paddocks are still improving. “Water and Soil Conservation Attachment”, referred to as WASCA Wings - conserves water and soil. WASCA Wings lays good foundations by saving water and improving pasture. We believe that Improved pasture = more PROFIT.
